The
Greenup Area Ambulance Service operated by the Village of Greenup, IL runs two
ALS (Advanced Life Support) ambulances
and one ILS (Intermediate Life Support). Ambulances
are dispatched by the Cumberland County E-911 dispatch center located at the
Cumberland County Detention Center in Toledo, IL only 5 miles away.
Cumberland County, IL is located in Central Illinois 60
miles south of Champaign, IL; 20 miles east of Effingham, IL; and 45 miles west
of Terre Haute, IN. The Greenup Area
Ambulance Service responds to calls in the eastern third of the county with
Coles County as the northern boarder, Jasper County as the southern boarder and
Clark County as the eastern boarder.
The service responds to calls within the Village of Greenup, throughout
the county and along various roadways including Interstate 70 (24 miles),
Illinois Route 121 and U.S. Route 40.
Greenup is fortunate to have such a group of dedicated
people who operate the service. Members
of Greenup EMS include Emergency Medical Technicians – Basic (EMT-B), Emergency
Medical Technicians – Intermediate (EMT-I), and Emergency Medical Technicians –
Paramedic (EMT-P) along with a group of drivers. Members of the organization volunteer their time for token
pay. Emergency Response is provided 24
hours a day 7 days a week.

Our resource hospital is located 25 miles north of Greenup in Coles County, IL. Members of our service receive training and continued education from the EMS Department at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center.
