Oubox Damaged

Problem:     If you are getting the following error message when trying to start either Internet Mail Version 1.0 or Outlook Express Version 4.0:

This folder has been damaged.  It will now be repaired.  Outbox.

When you click OK, you may receive the following error message: 

Some of the messages in the Oubox could not be sent

To fix the error, 'Outbox is damaged'

try this solution:

Click on Start

Click on Find

Click on Files or Folders

 

 

 

Type 'outbox' in the named field and click on FIND NOW

 

 

Once your magnafying glass quits moving around you should see several items in the list below. 

Click ONCE with your RIGHT mouse button on OUTBOX.MBX and a menu will pop up, choose DELETE with your regular mouse button and hit OK if it asks you if you are sure.

Repeat the process abvoe and delete OUTBOX.IDX as well.

Close all windows. The next time you open Internet Mail, it will recreate the outbox so that it will work.
