Updated Network Information for Neoga Users:

We made a change to our network so that Neoga Users are calling a Sigel number to dial the Internet. This change was made to improve the connections and increase the reliability of the connections to the Internet.

In order to get a true 56k connection using V.90 standard, the phone line in to Cumberland Internet has to be digital. Before, when Neoga users were calling a Toledo phone number, in the process of connecting the phone call the call was converted from Analog to Digital and back again and this ruined the possibility of getting a true 56k connection.   Your modems were defaulting to a non-56k standard and then connecting to our equipment  The non-56k standard is a very simple modem standard and would be very easy to connect to but the trade off is that the fastest speed would be limited to 33.6k.

We switched our Neoga Users to dial a Sigel exchange for several reasons including the fact that the phone call doesn't get switched from analog to digital and back again along the way between the Neoga and the Sigel telephone central office.    Now that you are dialing the Sigel exchange to get connected, you have the possiblity of getting a true 56k connection.   The good thing about this is that you can get a faster connection, the downside is that in order to connect at the faster speeds everything has to be set up correctly on the computer and the the modem has to have a current version of the software installed on it.

We need you to do two things:

1) If you are having any problems dialing or staying connected to the Sigel Number- Please call us for technical assistance immediately so we can check all your settings on the phone. It will not improve without making these changes and updates to the computer settings so call us sooner rather than later-   Daytime 923-5115 (Mon-Fri 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.)  or page us in the evening 1-800-412-2692 (Mon-Sat 5 p.m. - Midnight)

2) If after we've checked all your settings you are still having problems- please be ready to bring your computer in so we can update the modem driver software.      There is no charge to do this but please plan on leaving your computer for 24 hours for us to make this update  (We're open Mon-Fri 9 a.m.- 5 p.m.).    The updated modem software will allow your computer to connect at the fastest possible speed and will allow it to connect consistently

Following these 2 steps will assure you the fastest, most reliable connection to the Internet.   While it may be difficult to see how this change is an improvement to service if you are having problems connecting or gettting disconnected, we now have some of our fastest connections on our network from Neoga Users. Before we made this change, the fastest we could guarantee was 33.6k connection.   Thanks for taking the time to review this and feel free to e-mail us at  suggestions@rr1.net if you have any questions.
